La Trinidad Strawberry Festival Cancelled
In an announcement made by the Mayor of La Trinidad Benguet, Mayor Romeo Salda, the EXECOM as a body decided to cancel the celebration of the Strawberry Festival. This is upon the advice of the Department of Health (DOH) as a way to ensure the safety of the public from the spread of the Novel Corona Virus (2019-nCoV).
Also contained in the Mayor’s statement is a call to the public to heed the mandate of the Department of Health to avoid attending, participating or organizing events that will draw a huge number of attendees.
It could be recalled that the city Mayor of Baguio also canceled the opening of the Panagbenga Festival as well as the different crowd drawing activities in the next 3-weeks. The Mayor of Atok Benguet has suspended tourism activities in their municipalities which prompted the temporary closure of some favorite tourist spots like Northern Blossom. In Tinglayan Kalinga, the Mayor also suspended any tourism activities in their municipality. All these are the proactive actions in responses to the growing threat of the Novel Corona Virus or the 2019-nCoV.
Recently, the Cordillera region had 4 PUI’s for Corona Virus however, they were declared to be negative from the virus.
