Kalinga Bus Routes Closed until end of July

Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) members on COVID-19 agreed to keep Inter-Regional and Inter-Provincial bus routes in Kalinga closed until July 31, 2020 during the meeting held at the Capitol today.

The decision came after deliberation by the members of the body following the directive from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to decide whether to identify and recommend bus routes to be opened or to keep them closed for the time being.


Members agreed that Kalinga is not yet ready to open routes for buses as the control points established in these routes.

Wherein, checkpoints particularly in Talaca and Rizal which are still attending to several Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) entering and private individuals going in and out of the province.

Furthermore, the number of isolation units is limited with a large number of persons under monitoring (PUMs) still undergoing quarantine at the isolation facilities in the province, specifically in Tabuk City.

Governor Ferdinand Tubban directed the concerned officials to come up with a memorandum to every LGU for them to prepare necessary actions to be taken when bus routes will be opened.

He also clarified that routes for jeepneys are open and they can travel as long as a special permit to operate was granted by the Land Transportation Office.
