July 15, 2025 Declared as Special Non-Working Day in CAR
To allow the people of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) to fully participate in the celebration of its founding anniversary, July 15, 2025 (Tuesday) has been declared a special (non-working) day in the entire region.
The declaration was made through Proclamation No. 939, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin on June 17, 2025, by the authority of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
The Significance of July 15 in the Cordilleras
Every year, the Cordillera Administrative Region commemorates its establishment on July 15, marking the signing of Executive Order No. 220, series of 1987, by then-President Corazon C. Aquino.
This executive order officially created CAR by integrating the provinces of Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga-Apayao, and Mountain Province. The creation of CAR was a step toward fulfilling the aspirations of the Cordilleran people for autonomy and cultural recognition within the national framework.
