DPWH-CAR Releases July 29 Road Status: Key Routes Open, Some Still Closed




The Department of Public Works and Highways – Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) has released the latest road status update as of 10:30 AM today, 29 July 2025. While most major routes remain passable, a few roads are closed due to damage or ongoing safety concerns.

Major Roads Going To/From Baguio

Passable

  • Marcos Highway
  • Baguio–Bauang Road (Naguilian Road)
  • Asin–Nagalisan–San Pascual–La Union Boundary Road
  • Benguet–Nueva Vizcaya Road
  • Baguio–Bontoc Road




Not Passable

  • Kennon Road
    • Although initial clearing works have been done, Kennon Road remains closed to traffic due to ongoing safety concerns.
    • The area is currently under close monitoring because of the imminent threat of rockfall or soil collapse brought about by continuous rainfall.
    • Unauthorized or premature announcements not only mislead the public but also endanger lives.
    • Safety remains the top priority.

Other Roads in the Different Provinces

All national roads and bridges PASSABLE in:

  • Ifugao
  • Kalinga
  • Mt. Province
  • City of Baguio




NOT PASSABLE

  • Abra–Ilocos Norte Road (Abra)
    • Affected Area: Nagaparan, Danglas, Abra
    • Cause: Shattered slab with settlement
    • Status: Equipment and maintenance crew mobilized for immediate stabilization to prevent further collapse
    • Alternate Route:
      • Abra–Ilocos Sur Road (Bangued–Pidigan–San Quintin–Narvacan–Manila North Road)
  • Apayao–Ilocos Norte Road (Apayao)
    • Affected Area: Butao, Calanasan, Apayao
    • Cause: High water level of Madalagudug River on the detour road traversing the river due to the ongoing construction of Annaran Bridge
    • Status: Continuous monitoring of the water level




Travel Advisory | Motorist Alert

Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution when passing through newly opened roads previously affected by closures due to the current weather condition. While these routes are now passable, hazards may still be present, including:

  • Debris along the shoulder
  • Soft or unstable road edges
  • Ongoing clearing operations

Drive slowly, follow all traffic signs, and remain vigilant for sudden changes in road conditions.
