DOST Scholarship 2022 JLSS Applications Now Open; Here’s How to Apply

DOST Scholarship 2022 is now accepting applicants for incoming regular 3rd year college students in the Science and Technology area. The scholarships are offered by the Science Education Institution of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-SEI). Without further ado, here’s how to apply for DOST Scholarship 2022.




According to SEI, face-to-face transactions are discouraged because of the pandemic. Application for scholarships may only be done online.

DOST Scholarship 2022: What is the Junior Level Science Scholarship?

According to DOST-SEI, the Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) Program aims to:

  • provide scholarships that will finance the education of talented and deserving students in their third year of college and who are pursuing degree programs in the areas of science and technology; and
  • ensure a steady, adequate supply of qualified S&T human resources who can steer the country towards national progress.





DOST Scholarship 2022: Who can apply?

  1. REGULAR second year college male and female students enrolled in a DOST-SEI priority S&T course at identified universities in the Second Semester of AY 2021-2022.
  2. Must have a general weighted average of at least 83% or its equivalent and with no conditional or failing mark from the First Semester of First Year until the First Semester of Second Year in college, including in the midyear term, if enrolled.
  3. Must be natural-born Filipino citizen.
  4. Must be of good moral character and in good health.
  5. May have taken the DOST-SEI Scholarship Examination before but did not pass or have qualified for the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship but did not avail the scholarship award.





Types of Scholarships

The Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) Program aims to: provide scholarships that will finance the education of talented and deserving students in their third year of college and who are pursuing degree programs in the areas of science and technology; and ensure a steady, adequate supply of qualified S&T human resources who can steer the country towards national progress.

Under the DOST-SEI, there are three types of scholarships for incoming college students. The MERIT Scholarship Program is awarded to students with high aptitude in science and mathematics and is willing to pursue careers in the fields of science and technology. Scholarships under RA No. 7687 or the “Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994” are awarded to students whose families’ socio-economic status does not exceed the set cut-off values of certain indicators. Last but not the least, scholarships under Republic Act No. 10612 fast-tracks graduates in sciences, mathematics and engineering who would like to teach in secondary schools throughout the country.

Book Allowance ₱10,000.00 / year
Monthly Living Allowance₱7,000.00 / month
Transportation Allowance (for those studying outside of home province)1 economy-class roundtrip fare
Group Health and Accident Insurance Premium
Thesis Allowance₱10,000.00
Graduation Allowance₱1,000.00
B. Summer Allowance (if required in the curriculum)
Tuition and other school fees ₱1,500.00
Book Allowance₱500.00 (to submit Official Receipt)
Monthly Living Allowance₱7,000.00 / month for two months

Application Period

The application period of the DOST-SEI Junior Level Science Scholarships is from June 9, 2022, to July 31, 2022. The schedule of Qualifying Examination is on August 27-28, 2022.

    • For RA 10612: All of the above and schools that offer CHED compliant courses that are included in the list of priority S&T programs of study

      • Provide a working number where you can be contacted in relation to your application
    • Security of Access Credentials
      • Your Application ID will serve as your access credential to the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship E-Application System. Keep your access credential secure at all times.
    • No Multiple Accounts
      • Refrain from creating multiple accounts as it might cause a delay in accessing your application form
    • Stable Internet Connection
      • Make sure you have a stable internet connection that is capable of uploading documents so that your application will go smoothly.





    Documents to Prepare

    Downloadable forms

    Print the following forms in A4-sized bond paper. Have them signed by the proper authorities indicated in the forms. Scan/Take a picture and save each file. Name each file: (Surname-Form __) when saving it before uploading it to the e-application system.

    1. Form C – Certificate of Good Moral Character
    2. Form D – Certificate of Good Health
    3. Form E- Certificate of Program of Study and Year Level
    4. Form F – Certificate of Residency
    5. Form G1/G2 – Commitment to Return of Service
    6. Form H – Applicant’s Certification Re: Not a DOST Scholar prior to this application
    7. Form I – Signed Declaration of Applicant and the Parent/Legal Guardian





    Personal Documents
    1. Official Transcript of Records (TOR) or True Copy of Grades (TCG) or Grade Report downloaded from the portal for First Semester of First Year until the First Semester of Second Year in college, including in the midyear terms, if enrolled.
      • Must be duly signed by the University Registrar/Dean of College
    2. Recent passport-size picture (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm or 1.8 inches x 1.4 inches)
      • Must show the face of the Applicant, 80% of the picture
      • Must be colored, with white background
      • With the name tag position at approximately 1 inch or 2.54 cm below the chin): Full name, handwritten- First Name, Middle Initial, Last Name, and Extension Name, if any (e.g. JUAN C. DELA CRUZ, JR.), and signature over printed name
      • Taken within the last three (3) months prior to the filing of the application
    3. PSA, NSO, or the Municipal Registry Office Birth Certificate
    4. Clear, signed copy of Parent/s or Legal Guardian’s 2020 Income Tax Return / BIR Form 1701 / Employment Contract for OFW / BIR Certificate of Exemption from Filing of ITR / Certificate of Indigency / Certificate of Employment with Compensation / Proof of Pension
      • Annual Gross Income must be clearly indicated in the document.
    5. Notarized Affidavit of Guardianship
      • Must be submitted if the applicant is not living together with either of the parents
