City Government: “CAR STILL NOT UNDER ECQ”; Clarifies Circulating Photo

The City Government of Baguio released a statement on Sunday, April 4, 2021, dispelling the circulating document stating that the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), including Baguio City, will be under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) status in the coming days.

The circulating photo is that of a page from an IATF Resolution stating that “reclassification as may be warranted and the declaration of localized ECQ in critical areas” in CAR, along with different localities in the country.

This led to the panic of citizens seeking clarification from the LGU if indeed the Cordillera region will go back to the quarantine classification following the extension of the ECQ status for the NCR plus bubble and the surge of cases in the region.

PIO-Baguio clarified that the circulating document was a page from the IATF Resolution 107-A which was released on March 29, 2021, placing CAR and other areas under GCQ until April 30, 2021. The statement in the circulating photo was incomplete, leading to the citizen’s misconception.

Full statement as stated in IATF Resolution 107-a

As of date, the national and local government has not released any order placing the city and the region on ECQ.
