Baguio Travel Advisory: Passable Routes, Closures and Road Restrictions

Motorists traveling to and around Baguio City are advised to check road conditions before proceeding as Kennon Road remains temporarily closed to non-residents, while several other Baguio-bound routes remain passable as of September 7, 2026.

According to the latest road and travel advisory from DPWH-CAR, continuous heavy rainfall has affected several road sections in Baguio City, Benguet and other parts of the Cordillera, resulting in road slips, sinking portions and other hazards.

Baguio-Bound Roads That Are Passable

The following Baguio-bound roads are currently passable:

• Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road
• Baguio-Bauang Road or Naguilian Road
• Marcos Highway

Motorists using Baguio-Bontoc Road or Halsema Highway should take note that only one lane is passable at Caliking, Atok, Benguet due to a road slip.

Kennon Road Closed to Non-Residents

Kennon Road remains temporarily closed to non-residents until further notice due to continuous heavy rainfall affecting the area.

DPWH-CAR said persistent rainy weather may result in slope failures, rockfalls and landslides, making travel along Kennon Road hazardous.

The temporary restriction is being implemented while clearing operations and safety assessments are being conducted.

Motorists may use alternative routes such as Marcos Highway or Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road, subject to prevailing road conditions.

Meanwhile, one lane remains passable at Camp 6 in Tuba, Benguet.

Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road Not Passable

The Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road at Beckel, La Trinidad is currently not passable due to a road slip.

Motorists may use the following alternate routes:

• Marlboro-Beckel Road
• Labey-Lacamen Road

Baguio-Itogon Road Affected

The Baguio-Itogon Road at Sitio Goldfield, Barangay Poblacion, Itogon is not passable.

Motorists may use Ucab-Midas Road as an alternate route.

Another section of Baguio-Itogon Road at Barangay Ucab, Itogon is one-lane passable due to a sinking section.

PMA Road Has Sinking Sections

In Baguio City, DPWH-CAR reported two affected sections along PMA Road in Barangay Fort Del Pilar due to sinking portions of the roadway.

Motorists traveling through the area should exercise caution.

Other Affected Roads in Benguet

Several other national roads in Benguet have restrictions.

The Cong. Andres Acop Cosalan Road has an open-close, one-lane traffic situation at:

• Barangay Duacan, Kabayan
• Barangay Gusaran, Kabayan

The Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road at Bangho, Daclan is also under a one-lane, open-close traffic scheme.

For light vehicles, the alternate route is the Suyoc-Baayan-Posos Provincial Road.

Vehicles are allowed to pass through the affected portion one at a time, with temporary passage scheduled from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM only, except during emergencies.

The affected section will be automatically closed during continuous heavy rainfall or whenever conditions become unsafe for passage.

Meanwhile, Pico-Lamtang Road at Pico Bridge #2 is one-lane passable due to a crack on the girders.

Road Restrictions Elsewhere in the Cordillera

Several national roads in Apayao, Kalinga and Mountain Province also remain under restrictions due to damaged infrastructure, road slips, slope collapse and other hazards.

Some sections are limited to light vehicles, while others are operating with only one lane passable.

Motorists traveling beyond Baguio and Benguet are advised to check the latest road conditions for their specific route before proceeding.

Motorists Advised to Exercise Caution

With continuing rainy conditions, road conditions may change quickly, particularly along mountainous routes susceptible to landslides, rockfalls and road slips.

Motorists are advised to slow down, obey road signs and traffic personnel, and remain alert while traveling.

Travelers should continue monitoring official advisories from DPWH-CAR and local authorities for changes in road conditions, restrictions and reopening announcements.
