Baguio has Around 30 Vaccination Sites, UB Gym Included, City Administrator Reveals

A press and public briefing called the City Hall Hour has went live earlier this afternoon of Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at the Public Information Office of the City of Baguio Facebook page. Topics including COVID-19 Vaccine and Infrastructure and Market Development, among others, have been talked about during the said briefing. Among the panelists was City Administrator Engr. Bonifacio Dela Peña.

During the City Hall Hour, one asked about the identified vaccination centers and the preparations the city making for the vaccination. “Last week ba na-mention kasi ni Mayor na meron nang identified vaccination centers, sir ilan na yung na-identify natin at ano yung gagawin nating paghahanda pagdating ng panahon na mayroon na yung bakuna sir?” a person from the media asked.

“Handa na tayo,” City Administrator Engr. Bonifacio Dela Peña replied. The City Administrator has mentioned there are several categories of vaccination sites. Then he proceeded on mentioning a few sites including University of Baguio (UB), Saint Louis University (SLU), and Baguio City National High School among others.

“Meron na tayong UB Gym. Very lucky tayo na yung Saint Louis, dalawang covered court, vinolounteer ng ating presidente ng SLU na pwede nating gamitin. Tapos  meron na rin tayo yung ating mga health centers. I think there are 20 of them or around 28 of them. City High already confirmed also. So these are the big vaccination sites.”

“Yung ating mga hospitals are also… number one yung ating BGH, yung ating Saint Louis. Saint Louis already conducted their simulation. So more or less, you know this is just an estimate, more or less, we have more than 30 sites already for vaccination centers,” he added.

The City Administrator also stated that in terms of logistics, the city is already prepared, while in terms of simulation, Dela Peña said, “tapos na tayo sa simulation sa big sites, sa hospitals; we will go now sa mga barangay centers.”
