First “Baguio Tree Festival” To Kick Off on May
The City Government of Baguio has announced the launching of the first-ever Tree Festival in the City of Pines.
The Public Information Office of the city said that the festival details were revealed by Atty. Renan Diwas, head of the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) during the weekly management committee meeting held on April 20, 2021.
According to Diwas, “the Tree Festival is primarily focused on local residents and the community as a whole. It is aimed at educating and encouraging them to get involved with the city’s urban forest management program.”
As per Section 691 of the City’s Code of Ordinances, the tree planting months- June, July, August, and September- are institutionalized as regular annual activities of the City Government of Baguio, which mandates the City to instill awareness among the people on the present state of the environment through various activities related to tree planting, tree tending, solid waste management, support to clean air, and water conservation.
