Today Marks the 19th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks




19 years ago, September 11, 2001, the unforgettable 9/11 terror attacks or the September 11 attacks happened wherein almost 3,000 individuals lost their lives after nearly 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al Qaeda hijacked commercial airplanes and carried out suicide attacks in different locations in the United States.

Two of the hijacked airplanes were crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. The third plane crashed into the Pentagon, headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense,  and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania after passengers tried to fight back. 

The 9/11 terror attacks that happened 19 years ago had shaken the United States and made a huge impact globally. 

For the commemoration of the 19th anniversary of the 19/11 attacks, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum posted this on their twitter account:

“Nineteen years ago, under clear blue skies, 102 minutes changed our lives forever. On Fri., Sept. 11, we lead the nation and the world in observing the 19th anniversary of the 2001 attacks and ask you to join us in commemorating.”
