Several roads leading to Baguio closed to traffic after a magnitude 7 earthquake hit north luzon




ROAD ADVISORY UPDATE as of 6:00AM of July 28, 2022

As of 6:00 AM, July 28, 2022 KENNON ROAD and GOV. BADO DANGWA NATIONAL ROAD, both in the Province of Benguet, are now OPEN TO TRAFFIC. However, the advisory set forth by the Joint Inter-Agency Task Force Kennon (JIATFK) as of April 18, 2022 is still in effect. To date, there are a total of 3 ROAD LINE CLOSURES regionwide.
IFUGAO
KIANGAN-TINOC-BUGUIAS ROAD
> CLOSED TO TRAFFIC (Ap-apid, Tinoc Section)
> Due to Rock Collapse
> Clearing operation will commence upon arrival of equipment
> Alternate Route: Banaue-Hungduan-Benguet Boundary Road
KALINGA
LUBUAGAN-BATONG BUHAY- ABRA BOUNDARY ROAD
> CLOSED TO TRAFFIC (8 Sections)
> Due to Rock Collapse and Landslide
> Clearing operation will resume today
MT. PROVINCE
BAGUIO-BONTOC ROAD (Halsema Highway)
> CLOSED TO TRAFFIC (Mt. Data Cliff Section)
> Due to Soil Collapse
> Clearing operation will resume today
> Alternate Route: Sadsadan-Balin-Balicanao Farm-to-Market Road

At around 8:45 AM on July 27, 2022, North Luzon was hit by a Magnitude 7 earthquake. The epicenter was determined to be at Lagangilang Abra and its effect was felt even in Baguio City.

Baguio City felt an intensity 6 earthquake which caused buildings to shake and caused landslides in some areas. While the DPWH-CAR are still evaluating the extent of the damage several roads were already deemed closed.

  • KENNON ROAD- CLOSED TO TRAFFIC
    • due to Heavy Rains
  • GOV. BADO DANGWA NATIONAL ROAD- CLOSED TO TRAFFIC (5 Sections)
    • Due to Rock & Soil Collapse
    • Clearing operations will resume tomorrow

IFUGAO

  • BANAUE-HUNGDUAN-BENGUET BOUNDARY ROAD – CLOSED TO TRAFFIC (1 Section)
    • Due to Rock Collapse
    • Clearing operation will commence upon arrival of equipment

KALINGA

  • LUBUAGAN-BATONG BUHAY-ABRA BOUNDARY ROAD-  CLOSED TO TRAFFIC (8 Sections)
    • Due to Rock Collapse and Landslide
    • Clearing operation will resume tomorrow

MT. PROVINCE

  • BAGUIO-BONTOC ROAD – CLOSED TO TRAFFIC (Mt. Data Cliff Section)
    • Due to Soil Collapse
    • Clearing operation will resume tomorrow
