Senior Citizens No Longer Need to Physically Claim Pension Starting Mar. 1



Starting March 1, 2021, senior citizens will no longer need to make a personal or physical appearance to claim their pension. This was announced today, February 19, 2021 (Friday), by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

The announcement was made after Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has signed on Thursday, February 18, Resolution No. 100, Series of 2021 mandating pension-issuing agencies and their servicing banks, quasi banks,  and other financial institutions to adopt alternative modes of validation for senior citizen pensioners in lieu of personal appearances or submission of documents that require personal appearances.

Furthermore, as stated in the resolution, “relevant government agencies shall issue the corresponding memorandum circulars for the implementation of the foregoing by March 01, 2021.”

“Inatasan ang mga relevant government agencies na mag-issue ng memorandum circular sa pagpapatupad sa uno ng Marso.”

In addition, Roque added that senior citizens are one high-risk and vulnerable of COVID-19 that the resolution was approved to make sure their safety.

“Alam naman natin na tayo ngayon ay nasa gitna ng pandemiya at ang mga seniors ay isa sa high-risk at vulnerable sa Covid-19. Para matiyak ang kanilang kalusugan at kaligtasan, inaprubahan ng resolusyon na ito na hindi na sila kinakailangan na magkaroon ng personal appearance sa mga bangko at iba pang institutsyon para makuha lamang ang kanilang mga pensyon. “
