SB19 Earns Historic Filipino Billboard Music Awards Nomination

P-Pop supergroup SB19 has just been nominated for the Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) 2021. The Filipino boy band will battle it out with Kpop royalties BTS, BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN, and pop superstar Ariana Grande as the BBMA’s top social artist.

The lineup of nominees for the 51 categories was announced through a live stream on Thursday. SB19’s nomination in the fan-voted category marks the first Filipino nomination in the category since 2011. The finalists and awards are based on the key fan interactions with music, including album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, and social engagement tracked by Billboard.

Following the exciting announcement, congratulations were also in order as the Twitterverse exploded with extreme pride for the Filipino group as “CONGRATS BOYS” trended number 1 in the Philippines today.

 

This year’s nomination is based on the chart period of March 21, 2021 to April 3, 2021. The BBMA 2021 will be streamed live on May 23, 2021, from the Los Angeles Microsoft Theater.
