[UPDATED] MinDa Tienda Goes to Baguio City and Cordillera



The “MinDA Tienda sa Manila” was held last October 2020 and after its success the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and the City of Baguio agreed to hold another leg of the event, the “MinDA Tienda sa Cordillera”, to bring the best of Mindanao to Baguio City and Cordillera.

MinDA chief, Secretary Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol revealed on a Facebook post published yesterday (Thursday), November 5, 2020, that the “MinDA Tienda sa Cordillera” will be held from November 14 to 15, 2020 in Baguio City.

“It was agreed yesterday that MinDA Tienda sa Cordillera will focus on Mindanao products which are in great demand in Baguio City and the nearby provinces.”

Since the Baguio City team will receive the commodities and handle the sale and distribution for the two-day event, it will be easier for the Mindanao farmers, fishermen and producers to sell their produce in the “MinDA Tienda sa Cordillera.”

MinDA Tienda sa Cordillera: Fruits, Sea and Meat Products

In a meeting attended by the MinDA team, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, and other individuals, which was held last October; some fruits, sea and meat products which are to be brought to the city for the “MinDA Tienda sa Cordillera” have been identified. And these are the following:

Fruits

  • Durian
  • Marang
  • Mangosteen
  • Lanzones
  • Pomelo

Sea Products

  • Sea products from as far Tawitawi and Sulu
  • Dried fish from the Zamboanga Peninsula

 

 

Meat Products

  • Meat products from Mindanao
  • Famous beef from pineapple-fed cows

 

 

Also, according to MinDA chief Manny Piñol, the highly perishable items such as the fruits and marine products would be transported by PSI Air using the Boeing 727 and Boeing 737 cargo planes.

“Last year, two MinDA Fruit Festivals were held in Baguio City,” said Piñol. Thus, making the “MinDA Tienda sa Cordillera” the third collaborative activity between MinDA and the City of Baguio.

UPDATE: November 10, 2020

In the post of the Public Information Office (PIO) of the City of Baguio, the MinDa Tienda in Baguio will be on November 14-15, 2020 from 8:00 to 6:00 PM at the following venues:

  • City Hall
  • Igorot Park
  • People’s Park
  • Wright Park

Furthermore, the following is PHP 120.00 per kilo according to the PIO-Baguio Facebook post:

  • Durian
  • Lanzones
  • Mangoes
  • Mangosteen
  • Marang
  • Pomelo
