Market Vendors in Baguio City in Line for Expanded Testing

On September 30, 2020, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong revealed that the City Government of Baguio is appropriating four hundred (400) Coronavirus Disease 2019 test kits for market vendors as part of the city’s efforts to further curb the spread of the disease.

According to Mayor Magalong, the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test kits were part of the three thousand (3,000) test kits which were given by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) for a mass testing program at the Baguio Convention Center (BCC) which involved workers who were identified as “high risk” in acquiring the disease.

As reported by the Public Information Office of the City of Baguio today (Thursday), October 1, 2020, Mayor said that only two thousand and six hundred (2,600) kits were used at the BCC.

More Cases Expected in the Coming Days

Furthermore, Mayor Magalong warned that the city is expecting to expose more cases in the coming days. This is as a result of the city’s aggressive mass testing efforts.

To protect themselves and their families from the disease, residents are advised to observe the minimum health standards.
