Typhoon Emong continues to bring destructive winds and heavy rain as it approaches the La Union and Ilocos Sur area. The majority of Benguet, along with other Cordillera and Northern Luzon provinces, is now under Signal No. 3, signaling the threat of storm-force winds and possible flooding.
Typhoon Emong is battering Northern and Central Luzon with intense winds and widespread rainfall as it nears landfall in the La Union–Ilocos Sur area. With the majority of Benguet and much of the Cordillera region now under Signal No. 3, local authorities are warning of possible storm-force winds, dangerous flooding, and landslides. Residents are urged to stay alert for official advisories and prepare for emergency measures.
TCWS No. 4 (Typhoon-force winds, significant to severe impact):
TCWS No. 3 (Storm-force winds, moderate to significant impact):
TCWS No. 2 (Gale-force winds, minor to moderate impact):
TCWS No. 1 (Strong winds, minimal to minor impact):
Heavy rain is expected across Northern and Central Luzon, including the Cordillera region and nearby provinces. This increases the risk of flooding and landslides, particularly in mountainous and low-lying communities.
Areas under Signal No. 4 can expect significant to severe damage from typhoon-force winds. Areas under Signal No. 3, which includes most of Benguet, Baguio City, and other Cordillera provinces, are likely to experience moderate to significant impacts from storm-force winds. Signal No. 2 areas may encounter minor to moderate wind damage, while Signal No. 1 areas will see minimal to minor impacts. Gusty conditions are also expected in Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, and parts of Mindanao.
A life-threatening storm surge, with heights reaching up to 3.0 meters, is possible in coastal communities along Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, and Zambales.
Sea conditions are expected to be very rough or high, with wave heights reaching up to 14.0 meters along the western seaboards of Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan, and up to 8.0 meters along the coast of Zambales and other parts of Pangasinan. Sea travel is extremely dangerous and mariners are strongly advised to remain in port.
Typhoon Emong is moving eastward and will likely make another landfall in La Union or Ilocos Sur this morning before exiting to the Babuyan Channel and weakening.
Residents under all wind signals, especially in Benguet, Cordillera, Ilocos, and La Union, should prepare for destructive winds, flooding, and possible landslides. Follow all PAGASA and local advisories and prepare to evacuate if needed.
