Kennon Road Open to Two-way Traffic starting April 2, 2022




Is Kennon Road Open from April 2022?

Kennon road will now be opened to two-way traffic to ALL motorists/Road Users starting 5:00AM of April 2, 2022. This is according to the Public Advisory released by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Joint Inter-agency Task Force Kennon.

According to the advisory, the opening of Kennon Road to two-way traffic for all road users is due to the recent positive developments in the rehabilitation of the said national road. In addition, it is also to heed the request of the Mayor of Baguio City to open Kennon Road in order to improve the traffic management in the city.




In line with this, the RDRRMC Joint Inter-Agency Task Force Kennon is reminding motorists and the public of the following:

  • Drive safely, strictly adhere to traffic and parking rules (and safety signages), and maintain a speed limit of thirty kilometers per hour (30 kph), particularly along curvatures
  • Vehicles/trucks exceeding the five (5) tons (gross tonnage) limit shall be prohibited to pass through Kennon Road
  • In case of inclement weather or detected ground shaking/earthquake with or without aftershock/s which may trigger landslides and rockfalls, the Municipality of Tuba, through the Tuba MPS, in coordination with the DPWH-CAR and OCD-CAR, shall immediately close Kennon Road until public safety is guaranteed

 
This advisory nullifies the previous schedule of road opening of Kennon Road.
