Here’s How you Can Adopt a Stray Pet in Baguio City
The City Veterinary and Agriculture Office of Baguio City has issued requirements on how you can adopt unclaimed stray dogs from the Baguio City Animal Pound.
According to the City Ordinance No. 60 series of 2020, stray dogs that are unclaimed after three (3) working days from the date of impounding shall be opened for adoption.

Interested adopters of unclaimed dogs in the City Pound shall transact directly with personnel-in-charge of the CVAO by going to the city pound. You may check Baguio City Veterinary and Agriculture Office’s Facebook Page as they frequently post photos of impounded stray pets that are for claiming and adoption.
Who can Adopt?
Residents from the BLISTT (Baguio City, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba, Tublay) areas can adopt pets providing they have the requirements needed for adoption.
CVAO Pet Adoption Requirements
If you are interested in adopting, you will need the following requirements as of February 10, 2022:
- Barangay Certification (stating that you are a bonafide resident and that you are capable of taking care of a dog as a pet and there is no objection from your neighbors)
- Valid ID
- Dog Cage
- Adoption fee: Php 650.00/dog
- Registration fee of Php 50.00
- Residents of BLISTT area are the priority for adoption
Qualified applicants will be notified via text or call.
Baguio City Pound Location and Office Hours
With the adoption requirements, you can proceed to the Baguio City Pound which is located at the Slaughterhouse Compound, Sto. Niño-Slaughter Barangay. There you can personally check which pets are open to adoption and accomplished the adoption forms. They are open Mondays-Fridays 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
