The Department of Education (DepEd), through a press release published on Monday, March 15, 2021, announced that they will conduct an early registration for the next School Year (SY). The department stated that the early registration activity will be from March 26 to April 30, 2021.
“Due to major changes in the school calendar for SY 2020-2021, the DepEd will conduct the early registration for SY 2021-2022 from March 26 to April 30, 2021.”
According to DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones, all incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 in public elementary and secondary schools shall pre-register. This is to allow the department to make necessary preparations and plans for the coming school year. Grades 2-6, 8-10, and 12, on the other hand, are considered pre-registered and will not need to participate in the early registration.
While early registration is mandatory for public schools, DepEd bared that it is optional for private schools.
“In the context of the prevailing COVID-19 public health emergency, the conduct of early registration shall be done remotely in areas under General Community Quarantine (GCQ). In-person registration through parents or guardians may be allowed in areas under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) provided physical distancing and health and safety protocols are strictly observed.”
