It was stated on the issued EO that recent cases recorded have shown that among the active cases since November 1, 2020, 44 cases are over the age of 65 and this has become a concern as persons in the said age group are most at risk of the effects of the virus, and a higher degree of medical attention is required for their care and recovery.

Under the EO, persons over the age of 65 can go out for necessary purposes such as:

  • For purposes of work
  • To seek medical attention
  • When they have no other non-high-risk relatives or acquaintances to assist them in acquiring necessary goods or basic services

Furthermore, it was stated on the EO that non-work-related social gatherings and activities for persons over the age of 65 are likewise suspended during this period.

In addition, the Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) shall be closed for activities and physical or walk-in transactions during this period, but a skeleton workforce shall report for duty to address any and all immediate concerns/queries.
