Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong Tests Positive For the Virus





Mayor Benjamin Magalong has announced today, April 3, 2021, that he has contracted the coronavirus.

The local chief executive of the City of Baguio has announced through his personal Facebook profile that he underwent an RT-PCR test on the morning of Friday, April 2, 2021. The results came out at 4:30 in the afternoon of the same day, showing positive results.



Indeed, this news came out as a devastating blow for me and my family. The seriousness of this pandemic is something that we should not take for granted. It is a difficult situation and I don’t want anyone of you to be in this condition as it is emotionally, psychologically and financially difficult for our loved ones to bear.

According to Magalong, contact tracing efforts are underway for those who have been in contact with him and assures the public that the city’s COVID-19 situation is closely being monitored despite his situation.




The City has reported 227 new cases yesterday, which includes those who were tested from March 29, 2021 to April 2, 2021 and came out positive.
