In-person classes at all levels in public and private schools throughout Benguet are suspended on Monday, August 10, 2026, due to continued heavy rainfall and the threat of flooding and landslides.

Governor Melchor Diclas, chairperson of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, issued Executive Order No. 2026-57 ordering the suspension.

The measure is intended to protect students, teachers, and school personnel as significant rainfall is expected to continue across the province over the next several days.

The following rainfall conditions are expected:

• Until 12:00 noon on Monday, August 10: Intense to torrential rain
• Monday noon to Tuesday noon, August 11: Heavy to intense rain
• Tuesday noon to Wednesday noon, August 12: Moderate to intense rain

Flooding and Landslide Threat

Prolonged and continuous rainfall may cause flooding and landslides in several parts of Benguet.

Residents, particularly those in flood-prone and landslide-prone communities, are advised to remain vigilant, monitor official advisories, and follow instructions from local authorities.

Students and parents should also wait for announcements from their respective schools regarding alternative learning arrangements.

Does the Suspension Include Baguio City?

The announcement was issued by the Provincial Government of Benguet and does not name Baguio City. Baguio is administratively separate from Benguet, so any class suspension in the city would require a separate announcement from the City Government of Baguio.
