Burnham Lake to Close Temporarily for Rehabilitation

The City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) has announced that the Burnham Lake in Baguio City will be temporarily closed starting October 1, 2025 until further notice to give way to a rehabilitation and enhancement project. The move is part of the city’s continuing effort to restore the ecological balance of the lake, improve its water quality, and ensure its sustainable management for future generations.notp

The project will be led by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) in coordination with the City Government of Baguio through CEPMO. According to officials, the rehabilitation of Burnham Park will be carried out in four phases under the approved master development plan, with Burnham Lake as the starting point.

During the closure, the public will not have access to the lake. All boating, fishing, and recreational activities are suspended, and some surrounding areas may also be restricted to allow the rehabilitation work to proceed. Authorities assured the community that no trees will be cut as part of the project.
