Mayor lifts lockdown on Pinget due to cooperation from residents
Mayor Benjamin Magalong has ordered lifting the total lockdown on Barangay Pinget today, April 6, 2020, after eleven days of its implementation.
The lockdown was lifted because residents of the said barangay have cooperated and strictly followed the guidelines set for the total lockdown.
Total lockdown due to complacency and lack of discipline
Las March 25, 2020, Mayor Magalong ordered a total lockdown over Barangay Pinget after learning about the barangay’s complacency and haphazard implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) guidelines.
As a result, checkpoints were set up in all entry and exit points of Pinget where no resident is allowed to leave or enter except those who work at essential establishments.
City government appeals for continuous cooperation
Now that the lockdown has been lifted, the local government is requesting the barangay’s officials and residents to continue complying with the guidelines set for the ongoing ECQ over Luzon to prevent repeating the incident.
On the other hand, the city government believes that residents, not just of Pinget but throughout the city, learned from the implementation of the total lockdown. With this, the city hopes that other barangays will not end up in the same situation due to disobedience of the ECQ guidelines.
