3 Baguio Schools Chosen as Pilot Areas for Digital E-learning Project




Three public schools in Baguio City were chosen as pilot areas for the digital e-learning resource project according to a post of Public Information Office (PIO) – Baguio today, September 15, 2020.

3 Chosen Baguio Public Schools

Here are the following public schools in Baguio City identified by the Department of Education (DepEd) Baguio:

  • Baguio Central School
  • Apolinario Mabini Elementary School
  • Pines City National High School

Foundation Funding the Project

The foundation that will fund the project which aims to provide supplemental materials for science, math, and reading is Kilusang Kabataan Livelihood Foundation (KKLF).

KKLF is an advocacy group that primarily focuses on aiding marginalized and displaced Muslim children, today for the digital learning resource project.

In the statement of Chairperson of KKLF Kristin Bangot, she said that:

“The advocacy of the foundation is to give a quality education program for Muslim students but not this time, not necessarily Muslims only, other students here can use the e-learning materials.”

Furthermore, the City Government of Baguio City and the DepEd Baguio has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with KKLF.

According to the KKLF Chairperson Bangot, the foundation will donate learning materials similarly used by international schools to provide quality education to the beneficiaries.

50 Beneficiaries from Each Schools

Bangot added that 50 students from each of the chosen schools will be the direct beneficiaries of the digital learning system.

Additionally, the beneficiaries will receive a portal key to have access to the e-learning materials.

“It depends on the teachers and the DepEd how they will utilize learning materials so that other students can also use the materials or the content,” Bangot added.

Mayor Magalong’s Support to the Project

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong has donated 10 computers in the pilot schools for digital learning materials.

Furthermore, it is stated in the PIO-Baguio post that either the teacher or the student will use through the computer and if the student has a tablet, the application can be downloaded for distance learning.
