Washed-Out Section of Paoay-Olis-Bosleng Road Impassable

A section of the Km. 51-Proper Paoay-Olis-Bosleng Road in Atok is completely impassable after part of the road was washed out.

The deteriorating condition was first reported by a concerned citizen on August 9, 2026. Responders immediately inspected the area and issued notices to nearby households and business establishments that could be affected.

Authorities continue to monitor the site and conduct ocular inspections. Coordination meetings are also being held to assess the situation and identify possible interventions.

Road supports farmers and tourism

The Paoay-Olis-Bosleng Road is an important route for local farmers who use it to transport their produce. With the road now impassable, the movement of agricultural goods from communities along the route may also be affected.

Beyond its importance to farming communities, the road also provides access to several tourist destinations in Barangay Paoay, including Mount Olis Viewpoint, Goatcliff Adventure and Camping, Sakura Park, and Haight’s Place.

Alternate routes inspected

On August 12, personnel from the Atok MPS, Municipal Engineering Office, Atok Fire Station, and the barangays of Paoay and Cattubo inspected the identified alternate road and footpath.

The inspection was conducted to determine whether the routes are accessible to affected communities, particularly learners who may need to use them.

Several local roads in the municipality have also been affected. Residents and motorists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel. Those who must travel are urged to exercise extreme caution and remain alert.
