Typhoon Emong Weakens to a Severe Tropical Storm While Crossing the Cordillera

Typhoon Emong, after making landfall in Candon City, Ilocos Sur earlier this morning, is now weakening as it traverses the rugged terrain of the Cordillera Administrative Region. Despite this downgrade in strength, the system continues to bring heavy rains, strong winds, and dangerous sea conditions across Northern Luzon and nearby regions.
