Issued at 11:00 am today, Tropical Depression Dodong continues to maintain its strength as it advances north-northwestward over the northwestern Cagayan area.
At the time of reporting, the center of Tropical Depression Dodong was estimated to be in the vicinity of Allacapan, Cagayan (18.2 °N, 121.5 °E ), moving north-northwestward at a speed of 15 km/h. Dodong has maintained its strength with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 75 km/h.
Land areas are being affected by severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall. The forecast predicts accumulated rainfall of 50-100 mm today until early tomorrow morning in Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra Benguet, Ilocos Norte, La Union, and Pangasinan.
Given these conditions, residents in affected regions should remain vigilant for potential flooding and rain-induced landslides, particularly in areas highly susceptible to these hazards or locales that have experienced significant rainfall in recent days.
Dodong is also whipping up severe winds, with minimal to minor impacts from strong winds (strong breeze to near gale strength) possible within areas where Wind Signal No.1 is in effect. The enhanced Southwest Monsoon may generate gusty conditions in areas not currently under any wind signal. These areas include MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, CALABARZON, Metro Manila, and other regions of Central Luzon today, and Zambales, Bataan, and Aurora tomorrow.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is currently in effect for the following areas in Luzon:
Residents in these areas are urged to stay updated on the latest weather advisories and prepare for potential impacts related to heavy rainfall and strong winds.
