Gear Up for Undas: LTFRB Opens Special PUV Permit Applications Sept. 21

In anticipation of the significant increase in travelers during the upcoming All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has officially opened applications for special permits for public utility vehicles (PUVs).

Starting September 21, PUV operators nationwide can submit their applications to secure these special permits. The initiative is a proactive step by the LTFRB to ensure adequate transportation options are available, catering to the surge of commuters expected to visit their departed loved ones or travel for the traditional Undas holidays.

These temporary permits will allow authorized PUVs to operate on routes or schedules beyond their regular franchises, thereby augmenting the existing public transport fleet. This move is crucial for managing the demand during one of the busiest travel periods of the year, ensuring that more commuters can reach their destinations safely and efficiently.
