Tropical Storm Pilandok continues to move over the Philippine Sea and remains far from the Philippine landmass, according to PAGASA’s Tropical Cyclone Bulletin issued at 11:00 AM today, September 2, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat continues to bring rains over portions of Northern Luzon, including Baguio City and Benguet.
As of 10:00 AM, the center of Tropical Storm Pilandok was estimated at 1,135 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.
Pilandok has maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 80 km/h, and a central pressure of 998 hPa.
Strong to gale-force winds extend outward up to 580 km from the center.
No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal is currently hoisted.
Pilandok is forecast to remain a tropical storm throughout the forecast period and remain far from the Philippine landmass.
According to PAGASA, the tropical cyclone may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility tonight, September 2, or early Thursday morning, September 3.
While Pilandok remains far from the country, the Southwest Monsoon continues to affect Northern Luzon.
Under PAGASA’s Rainfall Advisory No. 25 issued at 11:00 AM, light to moderate, and at times heavy rains, are being experienced over:
These rains may persist within the next two to three hours and could affect nearby areas.
Similar conditions are also expected over the rest of Benguet within the next two to three hours.
Residents, particularly those near mountain slopes and areas susceptible to flooding, are advised to remain alert for possible landslides, mudslides, rockslides and flash floods.
The next rainfall advisory is scheduled to be issued at 2:00 PM today.
The Southwest Monsoon is also forecast to bring strong to gale-force gusts through Friday, September 4, particularly in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds.
Affected areas include most of Luzon and Visayas, as well as portions of Mindanao.
A Gale Warning is also in effect over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon.
Waves may reach up to 5 meters over the seaboards of Batanes, Ilocos Norte and northern Ilocos Sur, as well as the northern and western seaboards of the Babuyan Islands.
Waves of up to 4.5 meters are forecast over La Union, the western seaboard of Pangasinan and portions of the Babuyan Islands and Ilocos Sur.
PAGASA warns that sea travel is risky for all types and tonnage of vessels under these conditions. Mariners are advised to remain in port or seek safe harbor until winds and waves subside.
Although Tropical Storm Pilandok remains far from the Philippine landmass, weather conditions over parts of the country continue to be influenced by the Southwest Monsoon.
Residents of Baguio City, Benguet and other affected areas of Northern Luzon are advised to continue monitoring rainfall warnings and advisories, especially with rains still affecting areas vulnerable to landslides and flooding.
