List of Persons Required to Wear Face Shield and Face Mask in La Trinidad




La Trinidad Municipal Mayor Romeo Salda on Friday, August 7, 2020, has issued Executive Order No. 061 S. of 2020, about requiring individuals to wear face shield and face mask starting today, August 10, 2020. The said order shall remain valid until amended or revoked by a subsequent Order or applicable Ordinance.

Who are Required to Wear Face Shield and Face Mask

Based on the executive order, the following individuals are the ones required to wear a face shield and face mask:

  • Persons in public areas and transport
  • Employees of offices both public and private
    • Banks and establishments
    • Department stores
    • Public markets
    • Groceries
    • Satellite markets (talipapas)
    • Hardware
    • Sari-sari stores
  • Individuals transacting at the La Trinidad trading post
  • Individuals transacting at BAPTC
  • Individuals transacting at private trading areas

“Requiring all persons in public areas and transport, employees of offices both public and private, banks and establishments, department stores, public markets, groceries, satellite markets (talipapas), hardware, sari-sari stores, and individuals transacting at the La Trinidad trading post, BAPTC and private trading areas to wear a face shield and a face mask effective August 10, 2020.”

Why Wear Face Shield and Face Mask

Since recently, there has been a surge in positive COVID -19 cases in the Municipality of La Trinidad the need to require the use of both protective gear – face shields and masks – arises. As made mention on the EO, the use of face shields and masks considerably reduces exposure to and emission of respiratory droplets.

“…No amount of protection is too much when it comes to our health and safety since the face shield adds an extra layer of protection against Covid-19…”

Here’s an overview of what face shields and face masks can do according to medical experts:

  • Wearing a face mask reduces a mask wearer’s risk of catching the virus by 65%
  • Wearing a face shield reduces the inhalational exposure of the worker by 96% in the period immediately after a cough
  • The face shield also reduces the surface contamination of a respirator by 97%
  • If social distancing is observed, risk infection is reduced by 99.9%

Who will Initiate the Measures

Furthermore, these are the following groups or individuals directed to initiate all measures available to effectively implement the said order:

  • All Barangay Officials
  • Concerned municipal and health personnel
  • The La Trinidad Municipal Police Station
  • La Trinidad Fire Station
  • La Trinidad Women’s Brigade
  • Army Reservists KABALIKAT – CIVICOM and CCAT
