No Voter Registration on Saturdays says COMELEC; Disinfection Scheduled every Friday



The Commission on Election (COMELEC) has released an advisory informing the public that there will be no voter registration on Saturdays starting November 3, 2020 and registration hours are still from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

“There will no longer be voter registration on Saturdays beginning November 3, 2020, as the Commission of Elections plans to implement a four-day voter registration to be conducted only during weekdays.”

In a statement of COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez, he’s said that one weekday will be reserved for disinfection of COMELEC offices.

“We wish to clarify our earlier statement. While we have reverted to the weekday schedule, from Mondays to Fridays, only four weekdays will be allotted for voter registration as one weekday will be reserved for disinfection of our office.”

Furthermore, according to COMELEC, all Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs) will conduct disinfection activities every Friday unless the disinfection day will be done on any other weekday as prescribed by the concerned Local Government Unit (LGU).

Also, during disinfection days, COMELEC offices will be closed to the public. And OEOs will be still closed to the public on Fridays in case the LGU will schedule disinfection on Saturday.

In COMELEC Baguio’s advisory, the office has announced that they will disinfect every Friday and they will accommodate a maximum of 75 registrants daily.
