The National Capital Region (NCR) Plus will be placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) status starting Friday, August 6, 2021.
This is according to a video announcement made by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Friday.
As per the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), from June 30, 2021, to August 5, 2021, NCR Plus will remain to be under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened and additional restrictions before easing into ECQ status from August 6 to 20, 2021.
According to Roque, the decision did not come easily but was necessary to prevent the shortage of ICU beds and other hospital requirements should the COVID-19 cases blow up due to the imminent spread of the virus’ delta variant.
As per IATF Resolution No. 130-A, here are additional restrictions while NCR is under GCQ:
