NCR to be Placed Under 2-Week ECQ Starting August 6

The National Capital Region (NCR) Plus will be placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) status starting Friday, August 6, 2021.

This is according to a video announcement made by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Friday.

As per the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), from June 30, 2021, to August 5, 2021, NCR Plus will remain to be under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened and additional restrictions before easing into ECQ status from August 6 to 20, 2021.

According to Roque, the decision did not come easily but was necessary to prevent the shortage of ICU beds and other hospital requirements should the COVID-19 cases blow up due to the imminent spread of the virus’ delta variant.

GCQ with heightened restrictions guidelines

As per IATF Resolution No. 130-A, here are additional restrictions while NCR is under GCQ:

Indoor dine-in services and al fresco dining of food preparation establishments such as commissaries, restaurants, and eateries SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED, limited to take-out and delivery.
Note: Operations for today, July 30, would continue in these establishments until the end of business/working hours)
Personal care services (beauty salons, beauty parlors, barbershops, and nail spas) may operate up to 30% of the venue or seating capacity.
Indoor sports courts and venues; and indoor tourist attractions; specialized markets of DOT, may not operate.

Outdoor tourist attractions shall remain to be allowed at 30% venue capacity.
Only APORs shall be allowed to travel into and out of the NCR Plus Area.
Only virtual religious gatherings shall be allowed. Gatherings for necrological services, wakes, inurnment funerals for those who died of causes other than COVID-19 shall be allowed, limited to immediate family members.
Other provisions of the Omnibus Guidelines on the Implementation of CQ in PH, as amended, not affected by the foregoing shall continue to be in effect including those on the operation of public transportation. The use of active transportation shall likewise be promoted.
