Mayor Magalong Returns Ban of Liquor in Baguio City; Here’s Why

For the third time since the community quarantine has been imposed in the City of Baguio, the liquor ban will be back in effect tomorrow, September 21, 2020. This was according to an announcement made through the Public Information Office today.

According to PIO-Baguio, the decision to reimpose the ban is due to finding out that the clustering of COVID-19 cases reported at the Slaughterhouse Compound area for the past days ensued from the residents’ drinking sprees.

“It seems that we never learned from our past experience on the dangers posed by overindulging in alcohol. When we indulge, we do not anymore care about the health protocols so things lead to serious consequences like this clustering of cases that we now have in that area,”- Mayor Benjamin Magalong

Just today, the city has reported a record-high number of 43 new cases, wherein 10 of which are from the said area. This brings the total number of cases that have been recorded in the site so far to 38.

The City Mayor’s Office is set to issue the Executive Order regarding the ban tomorrow.
