The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) announced the temporary closure of Kennon Road to non-residents due to continuous heavy rainfall affecting the area.
According to the advisory, persistent rainy conditions may trigger slope failures, rockfalls, and landslides, making travel along Kennon Road hazardous.
The temporary restriction is intended to protect motorists and other road users while clearing operations and safety assessments are being conducted.
Alternative Routes for Motorists
Motorists who are not residents of areas along Kennon Road are advised to use alternative routes, including:
- Marcos Highway
- Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road
Travel through these alternative routes remains subject to prevailing road and weather conditions.
Motorists should also follow the instructions of traffic enforcers and emergency personnel stationed in affected areas.
Closure Remains in Effect Until Further Notice
DPWH-CAR did not provide a specific date for the reopening of Kennon Road. The temporary closure to non-residents will remain in effect until further notice.

As of 8:35 AM on August 4, 2026, the following road conditions were reported for motorists travelling to Baguio City:
Passable Roads
- Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road
- Baguio-Bauang Road, also known as Naguilian Road
Halsema Highway: One Lane Passable
The Baguio-Bontoc Road, also known as Halsema Highway, is limited to one-lane traffic at Caliking in Atok, Benguet, due to a road slip.
Motorists should expect possible delays and follow the instructions of traffic personnel in the area.
Marcos Highway: One Lane Passable
Marcos Highway is limited to one-lane traffic at Taloy Sur in Tuba, Benguet, due to a mudflow.
The road remains passable, but motorists are advised to slow down and exercise caution when approaching the affected section.
Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road Not Passable
The Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road remains impassable at Beckel in La Trinidad, Benguet, due to a road slip.
The affected section has been closed since June 28, 2026.
Motorists may use the following alternative routes:
- Marlboro-Beckel Road
- Labey-Lacamen Road
