Baguio City, August 29, 2025 – The Department of Public Works and Highways – Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) has announced that Kennon Road is now passable to the general public, but strictly limited to light vehicles with a maximum load of 5 tons.
This restriction is being enforced due to the temporary detour road at Camp 2, which cannot safely accommodate heavier vehicles. Authorities also clarified that the temporary bridge along the route remains impassable.
Motorists driving buses, trucks, or other heavy vehicles are advised to take the following alternate roads:
Authorities strongly urge motorists to exercise extreme caution, especially during periods of inclement weather, as conditions along Kennon Road remain challenging. The strict 5-ton load limit will be closely monitored to ensure the safety of all road users.
Kennon Road, one of the primary gateways to Baguio City, is historically prone to closures due to landslides, heavy rains, and ongoing rehabilitation works. While its reopening provides convenience to light vehicles, heavy vehicle traffic will continue to be diverted until permanent roadworks are completed.
