Globe Telecom delivers the first 5G-ready phone in PH

After introducing 5G for broadband services in June 2019, Globe Telecom, Inc. has released the first fifth-generation (5G) network-ready phone in the Philippines yesterday, February 6, 2020.

During the launching, the telecommunications company has introduced Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G to its Platinum customers.

Furthermore, Globe is planning to expand its network and transform areas within major central business districts to 5G mobile-capable sites this year.

With 5G-capable phones, what’s in store for mobile users?

1. Faster Internet Speed

Globe President and Chief Executive Officer Ernest Cu said, “With 5G, in the beginning, people will say there’s not much difference between 20Mbps and 400Mbps. Yes, there’s not much difference if you’re just doing Facebook, WhatsApp, and Viber. But eventually, someone out there will develop something that will require 100Mbps and that won’t work.”

2. Latency

As the telco president said, 5G, which is fiber-like, offers good latency which is definitely vital for a great gaming experience.

2. Connectivity

“5G is designed to accept millions, even billions, of connected devices, all at once, to the network. It transcends the limitations of 4G in that matter,” Cu said.

So are you ready for a better mobile internet experience? With 5G network’s availability for mobile users in the Philippines, it’s time to enjoy faster speeds and better connectivity.
