Four Frontliners Test Positive For COVID-19 in Baguio City

Four (4) new positive cases for COVID-19 have been recorded in the city today. According to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, all of the new infected patients are medical frontliners from Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC).

Two doctors, one nurse, and a hospital clerk who contracted the disease are residents of Woodsgate Subdivision, Camp 7, Sto. Tomas Proper, and BGH compound. They are currently confined at BGHMC and are stable.

To contain the current situation, Mayor Magalong will order lockdown on the said barangays and subdivision.

According to BGHMC Medical Chief Dr. Ricardo Ruñez, they have started all necessary measures to trace all contacts and are preparing their hospital staff for testing.

“We will start disinfecting wards, have advised to temporarily stop admissions and communicating with other hospitals for this matter. We will continue with the triage,” Ruñez told the mayor.

This makes the total number of confirmed cases in the city to nine (9) and with two health workers testing positive to the disease earlier, there are now six (6) frontliners who are currently fighting the disease.
