Budget Foodtrip Chronicles: Student Edition

Being considered as the center of education in the northern part of the Philippines, a lot of students go to Baguio City to study. And as students continue to flock to the city, the number of establishments increases too. And evidently, the most visited businesses by students are food establishments. Food became the students’ loyal companion whenever they’re happy, in sorrow, stressed, angry, and of course hungry. And yes, there are some places which are costly but there are those who serve budget-friendly meals but are definitely worth it.

For a lot of students, feeling and going through a way too many emotions and situations, it’s hard to say no to food even when they’re starting to run out of money. In this case, it is a must to be smart and alert at finding those places that offer good food for affordable prices.

So to help those of you who are planning to study here in Baguio, we’ve come up with this list of worthy and budget-friendly eateries for students.

Being the most visited and always packed with customers, they always get out of stock with their specialty called the  Legendary Porkchop known for its crispness and juicy taste. Aside from this, they also serve a wide variety of home-cooked dishes like Kinigtot (goat soup), Monggo, Lomi, Bopis, Dinakdakan, Sisig, Pinapaitan and more.

Their meal price ranges from only PHP45.00 to PHP80.00 and each meal comes with rice.

Good news is that they now serve food starting 7:30 in the morning until 8 o’clock in the evening unlike before that they close at around 2 or 3 o’clock in the afternoon because their viands are all consumed by that time. You can find it this place at #187 Bonifacio Road, near Saint Louis University (SLU) Gate 3 and 4.

Just like any other eateries, they also offer Pinoy dishes but they’re more known for always giving away a special treat during occasions. But sometimes, they just give a treat to their valued customers. And most of the treats that they give for free are Pancit, Spaghetti, Palabok and sometimes Unli Rice.

The most popular among students are their Buttered Chicken and Sinanglaw – the best sellers among their viands. Prices range only from around PHP40.00 to PHP60.00 per meal.
