Baguio City is 2020’s Most Business-Friendly LGU


Yesterday, October 8, 2020 (Thursday), the Public Information Office (PIO) of the City of Baguio has announced that the City Government of Baguio has won the 2020 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) Awards for City Level 1B Category (Highly urbanized cities outside of Metro Manila).]

This award is for successfully restoring and increasing the business operations in the locality through sustained and innovative actions despite extreme challenges brought about by the pandemic.

Addressing the Impacts of the Current Pandemic to the Business Community

It was cited by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) the initiatives of LGU of the City of Baguio through the leadership of Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong in addressing the impacts of the current pandemic to the business community.
This is particularly to the gradual opening of tourism establishments introducing the following:
  • The use of digital technology through the Visitor Information and Travel Assistance (VISITA) online registration platform.
  • The Ridge and Reef Tourism Corridor for Baguio City, La Union, Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte (BLUPISIN).

Virtual Awarding Ceremony

During the 46th Philippine Business Conference and Expo, through a virtual awarding ceremony, the PCCI conferred the award to the city.

According to PIO- Baguio, the PCCI’s annual expo is considered the largest business gathering in the country serving as a venue for sharing ideas for a sustainable and resilient business environment of the following:
