Baguio City Awarded as the Country’s 3rd Best in COVID-19 Response





Fifty-six (56) Local Government Units (LGUs) have joined the 2020 Digital Governance Awards (DGA), an awards program that recognizes the digital initiatives of LGUs in the country; and as revealed by the Public Information Office of the City of Baguio earlier today (Monday), December 14, 2020, Baguio City has placed third (3rd) nationwide in its Best in COVID-19 Pandemic Response category, city level.

According to Arch. Donna Tabangin, City Planning and Development Officer, Baguio City was recognized for its COVID tracing system which comprises an aggregate surveillance tracker, an automated analytics device, and a support package.

“The case-base surveillance tracker captures symptoms, demographics, risk factors and exposures, records of laboratory results and links to confirmed cases, treatment and response, and monitoring through contact tracing follow up program. Moreover, travelers who have visited high risk locations and would like to travel in and out of the city can access and online declaration system integrated into the COVID E-System tracker.”

Baguio City was able to make it as a finalist in three (3) categories including the Best in Customer Empowerment category with the Baguio Visitor Information and Travel Assistance (V.I.S.I.T.A); the Best in Business Empowerment category with the city’s Cashless Payment Solutions; and of course, the Best in COVID-19 Response category with the city’s Contact Tracing E-Systems.

The said awards program was jointly handled by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP).
