Baguio City Abattoir, Livestock Market for hogs and goats Temporarily Closed

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong has issued an Executive Order No. 134, series of 2020 today, September 24, 2020 (Thursday), ordering the temporary closure and suspension of operations at the Baguio City Abattoir, and the Livestock Market for Hogs and Goats.

The City Abattoir was closed last September 23 until 24, 2020 for disinfection and contact tracing purposes. According to the order, “Contact tracing and testing results of additional confirmed cases working at the City Abattoir, and at the livestock market for hogs and goats.” With this, the authorities have recommended to close and suspend operations of the said areas.

Under EO No. 134, Mayor Magalong is ordering the following:

• The Baguio City Abattoir and the Livestock Market for Hogs and Goats are hereby closed, and its operation suspended, beginning at 10:00 AM of September 25, 2020 until October 9, 2020. The general public shall not be allowed to enter these areas during this time, except for personnel of the City Contact Tracing Team, City Veterinary Office, City Health Services Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management  Office, and Baguio City Police Office for purposes of contact tracing, inspection and disinfection.
• On October 2, 2020, a reassessment of the risk of transmission within the area shall be conducted to determine if operation may be resumed prior to October 9, 2020.
• Personnel at the Animal Health Division of the City Veterinary Office are directed to temporarily carry out meat inspection duties until such time that Meat Inspection Officers are allowed to return to work upon the advice of the City Health Services Office.
• The City Veterinary Office shall remain operational through a skeleton workforce as designated by the City Veterinarian.
