Baguio-Bound Road Conditions as of August 8, 2026

Several major routes leading to Baguio City remain passable as of August 8, 2026, while Kennon Road remains temporarily closed to non-residents and a portion of Halsema Highway is limited to one-lane traffic, based on the latest advisory from DPWH-Cordillera.

The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) has released its latest Baguio-bound road travel advisory amid continued rainy conditions in the region.

Motorists are advised to take note of existing road restrictions and monitor official updates before travelling, as conditions may change depending on rainfall, clearing operations, and safety assessments.

Passable Baguio-Bound Roads

The following roads are currently passable:

  • Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road
  • Marcos Highway
  • Baguio-Bauang Road, also known as Naguilian Road

Halsema Highway: One Lane Passable

A portion of the Baguio-Bontoc Road, also known as Halsema Highway, remains limited to one-lane traffic at Caliking in Atok, Benguet.

The restriction is due to a road slip.

Motorists passing through the area are advised to exercise caution and follow instructions from traffic personnel.

Kennon Road Remains Closed to Non-Residents

Kennon Road remains temporarily closed to non-residents until further notice due to continuous heavy rainfall affecting the area.

According to DPWH-CAR, persistent rainy weather may result in slope failures, rockfalls, and landslides, making travel along Kennon Road hazardous.

The temporary closure is being implemented while clearing operations and safety assessments are being conducted.

Non-resident motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as:

  • Marcos Highway
  • Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Boundary Road

Use of these routes remains subject to prevailing road conditions.

Motorists are also advised to follow the instructions of traffic enforcers and emergency personnel and monitor official advisories for updates on road conditions and the reopening of Kennon Road.

Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road Remains Not Passable

The Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road remains not passable at Beckel in La Trinidad, Benguet, due to a road slip.

The affected section has been closed since June 28, 2026.

Motorists may use the following alternate routes:

  • Marlboro-Beckel Road
  • Labey-Lacamen Road

Motorists Advised to Exercise Caution

Those who need to travel are advised to check the latest official road advisories, avoid closed road sections, and follow the instructions of traffic and emergency personnel.

Road conditions may change depending on weather conditions and ongoing clearing and safety operations.
