Kennon Road and Naguilian Road are now temporarily impassable due to road hazards caused by continuing heavy rains, while Marcos Highway remains the only accessible major route to and from Baguio City, according to the latest advisory from DPWH-Cordillera on August 8, 2026.
The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) issued an updated road advisory on August 8 as continuing heavy rains triggered soil and rockfalls, landslides, and other hazards along major roads leading to Baguio City.
The latest advisory reflects changes from earlier road conditions reported during the day.
Kennon Road is currently not passable due to continuous soil and rockfalls.
DPWH-CAR also warned of the possibility of further slope failures as heavy rains continue.
Motorists are advised not to attempt to enter or cross closed sections of the road.
Baguio-Bauang Road, commonly known as Naguilian Road, is also not passable due to a landslide.
The road had previously been reported passable in an earlier August 8 advisory, but the latest DPWH-CAR update now lists the route as impassable.
Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual Road: Passable but Being Monitored
The Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual Road remains passable, but authorities are closely monitoring the route due to prevailing weather conditions and the possibility of additional road hazards.
Road conditions may change depending on rainfall and developments along the route.
Marcos Highway, officially known as the Aspiras-Palispis Highway, remains passable.
According to the latest DPWH-CAR advisory, it is currently the only accessible major route to and from Baguio City.
However, motorists are still advised to exercise extreme caution as continued heavy rainfall may cause road conditions to change rapidly.
DPWH-CAR continues to monitor affected areas and conduct clearing and response operations as conditions permit.
The public is strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel, follow road closure notices and instructions from authorities, and never attempt to cross closed or unsafe road sections.
With heavy rains continuing, additional road hazards may develop and road conditions may change without notice.
