Baguio-Bound Road Conditions as of August 22, 2026
Several major roads leading to Baguio City are passable as of August 22, 2026. Kennon Road has also reopened to the general public as of 11:00 AM, but only for light vehicles with a maximum load of 5 tons.
The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) has issued updated information on the condition of major roads leading to and from Baguio City.
The latest Kennon Road advisory issued as of 11:00 AM supersedes the earlier August 22 advisory that listed the road as temporarily closed to non-residents.
Passable Baguio-Bound Roads
The following routes are currently passable:
- Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road
- Marcos Highway
- Baguio-Bauang Road, also known as Naguilian Road
Halsema Highway: One Lane Passable
A portion of the Baguio-Bontoc Road, also known as Halsema Highway, remains limited to one-lane traffic at Caliking in Atok, Benguet.
The restriction is due to a road slip.
Motorists passing through the affected section are advised to exercise caution and follow instructions from traffic personnel.
Kennon Road Now Open to Light Vehicles
Kennon Road is now passable to the general public, according to the updated advisory issued as of 11:00 AM on August 22.
Access, however, is strictly limited to light vehicles with a maximum load of 5 tons.
Heavy vehicles are advised to use:
- Marcos Highway
- Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Boundary Road
Additional Conditions Along Kennon Road
Motorists should also take note of the following restrictions:
- The temporary Acrow Bridge at Camp 2 has a vertical clearance of 2.50 meters.
- The entrance of the rockshed when coming from Baguio City is one-lane passable.
DPWH-CAR also advised that Kennon Road may again be temporarily closed to non-residents if continuous heavy rainfall occurs.
Motorists using the road are advised to exercise caution and strictly observe traffic and safety regulations.
Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road Remains Not Passable
The Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road remains not passable at Beckel in La Trinidad, Benguet due to a road slip.
The affected section has been closed since June 28, 2026.
Alternate routes are:
- Marlboro-Beckel Road
- Labey-Lacamen Road
