Baguio-Bound and Cordillera Road Conditions as of September 11, 2026

Major Baguio-bound routes remain passable as of September 11, 2026, although several sections continue to have restrictions. Kennon Road remains temporarily closed to non-residents, while parts of Halsema Highway and other national roads across the Cordillera are affected by road slips, slope collapses, sinking sections, and bridge limitations.

The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) released updated road and travel conditions covering Baguio-bound roads and other national roads and bridges across the region.

Those who need to be on the road are advised to take note of restrictions and continue monitoring official updates as conditions may change.

Baguio-Bound Road Conditions

The following major routes are passable:

• Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road
• Baguio-Bauang Road, also known as Naguilian Road
• Marcos Highway
• Baguio-Bontoc Road, subject to restrictions

Halsema Highway: Restrictions Remain

The Baguio-Bontoc Road, also known as Halsema Highway, remains affected at several sections.

Caliking, Atok

The road is one-lane passable at Caliking, Atok, Benguet due to a road slip.

Namatec Section

The Baguio-Bontoc Road at the Namatec Section in Mountain Province is listed as punched-through open following a slope collapse.

An alternate route is available through:

• Maba-ay-Abatan-Bauko Road

Motorists should continue to exercise caution along affected sections.

Kennon Road Temporarily Closed to Non-Residents

Kennon Road remains temporarily closed to non-residents until further notice due to continuous heavy rainfall.

According to DPWH-CAR, persistent rainy conditions may result in slope failures, rockfalls, and landslides along Kennon Road.

Non-resident motorists are advised to use:

• Marcos Highway
• Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Boundary Road

Use of these alternate routes remains subject to prevailing road conditions.

A section at Camp 6, Tuba, Benguet is also listed as one-lane passable.

Motorists are advised to follow instructions from traffic enforcers and emergency personnel and monitor official advisories for changes in Kennon Road access.

Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road Not Passable

The Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road remains not passable at Beckel, La Trinidad, Benguet due to a road slip.

Alternate routes are:

• Marlboro-Beckel Road
• Labey-Lacamen Road

Other National Roads and Bridges

Apayao

Several roads and bridges remain open with restrictions.

Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road

Access at the following locations is limited to light vehicles:

• Bunot Bridge 2, Barangay Tanglagan, Calanasan, due to a damaged abutment slope
• Ayayao Bridge, Barangay Eva, Calanasan, due to a scoured bridge abutment footing

Intermittent one-lane sections due to road slips are reported in Barangays Parina, Tanglagan, and Eva in Calanasan.

Other portions at Namaltugan and Butao are also one-lane passable at intermittent sections due to road slips.

Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road

Sugoc Bridge at Barangay Ninoy, Calanasan is limited to light vehicles due to a scoured approach slab.

Intermittent one-lane sections due to road slips are reported in:

• Sta. Elena
• Eva
• Naguilian
• Eleasar
• Ferdinand
• Ninoy
• Kabugawan
• Namaltugan

Kabugao-Pudtol-Luna-Cagayan Boundary Road

The following sections are limited to light vehicles:

• Pudtol Bridge, Barangay Emilia, Pudtol
• K0646+162.5 to K0646+247, Barangay Upper Maton, Pudtol

Sections at Barangays Aurora and Lower Maton are one-lane passable at intermittent portions due to road slips.

Ayaga-Sta. Marcela-Flora-Lasam Road

Sections in Barangays Bagutong, Anninipan, and Malayugan in Flora are one-lane passable at intermittent portions due to road slips.

Baguio City

PMA Road Not Passable

Two sections of PMA Road at PMA Cut-Off, Barangay Fort Del Pilar are not passable due to sinking portions.

Session Road Temporary Closure

DPWH-CAR also included the temporary closure of Session Road in connection with the Baguio Country Fair and Melting Pot of Cultures for the 117th Baguio Day Celebration.

Benguet

Baguio-Itogon Road

The Baguio-Itogon Road is not passable at Sitio Goldfield, Barangay Poblacion, Itogon.

Alternate route: Ucab-Midas Road

A separate section at Barangay Ucab, Itogon is one-lane passable due to a sinking road section.

Cong. Andres Acop Cosalan Road

An open-close traffic situation remains in effect at:

• Barangay Duacan, Kabayan
• Barangay Gusaran, Kabayan

Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road

The section at Bangho, Daclan, Benguet remains one-lane passable under an open-close traffic scheme.

Vehicles are allowed through the affected section one at a time.

Temporary passage is scheduled from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM only, except during emergency cases.

The road will automatically be closed during continuous heavy rainfall or whenever conditions become unsafe.

For light vehicles, the alternate route is:

• Suyoc-Baayan-Posos Provincial Road

Traffic management is being undertaken by DPWH maintenance personnel together with Tublay PNP and concerned local government personnel.

Pico-Lamtang Road

Pico Bridge #2 remains one-lane passable due to cracks on the girders.

Kalinga

Mountain Province Boundary-Calanan-Abbut Road

Makilo Bailey Bridge in Bugnay, Tinglayan is limited to light vehicles.

The bridge has a 5-ton load limit, and long-bodied vehicles are not allowed.

Manuel S. Agyao Boulevard

Aliog Bridge in Nambaran, Tabuk City is limited to vehicles weighing 5 tons or less and has a vertical clearance of 3 meters.

Heavy vehicles may use:

• Bulo National Road via Callagdao-Bulo-Agbannawag

Mountain Province

Junction-Talubin-Barlig Road

The following sections are one-lane passable due to slope collapse:

• Sitio Pingew, Barangay Talubin, Bontoc
• Saligking Section, Barangay Talubin, Bontoc

Mountain Province-Ilocos Sur Road via Tue Road

A section at Sitio Dawdawan, Barangay Tambingan, Sabangan is also one-lane passable due to slope collapse.

Hazards May Remain

DPWH-CAR reminded motorists that hazards may remain even along roads that are open.

Those who need to travel are advised to slow down, obey signs and instructions from traffic personnel, and remain alert when approaching affected road sections.
