By Mt. Ulap Eco-Trail Reopens as Benguet Lifts Suspension on Adventure Activities
Mt. Ulap Eco-Trail in Itogon, Benguet reopened on September 16, 2026 following the lifting of the province-wide suspension on tourism-related adventure activities.
Mt. Ulap Eco-Trail in Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet is once again open to hikers following the lifting of the temporary suspension on tourism-related adventure activities in the province.
The Mt. Ulap Eco-Trail announced that it resumed operations on September 16, 2026, pursuant to Executive Order No. 2026-71 issued by the Provincial Government of Benguet.
Benguet Lifts Suspension on Adventure Activities
Benguet Governor Melchor D. Diclas issued Executive Order No. 2026-71 on September 14, 2026, lifting Executive Order No. 2026-53.
The earlier order temporarily suspended small-scale mining, quarrying and other river-related activities, as well as tourism-related adventure activities in Benguet beginning August 5, 2026 until further notice.
The suspension was imposed amid weather disturbances affecting the province, including Tropical Storm Maymay and continued inclement weather brought by the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat and other weather systems.
Improved Weather Conditions Cited
According to Executive Order No. 2026-71, favorable weather conditions had generally been experienced in Benguet in the days prior to the lifting of the suspension.
The provincial government cited daily situational updates from the different Municipal Emergency Operations Centers in the province.
With the issuance of the new executive order, the temporary suspension under EO No. 2026-53 was officially lifted. The order took effect immediately upon its issuance on September 14.
Mt. Ulap Eco-Trail Reopens
Following the lifting of the suspension, the Mt. Ulap Eco-Trail in Ampucao, Itogon announced that it is open again beginning September 16, 2026.
Municipal and barangay local government units were also directed to continue monitoring and assessing conditions within their respective jurisdictions and to implement mitigating or preventive measures when necessary to ensure public safety.
