Baguio-Bound and Cordillera Road Conditions as of August 28, 2026

Major Baguio-bound routes remain passable as of August 28, 2026, although Kennon Road is limited to light vehicles and a section of Halsema Highway remains one-lane passable. Several other national roads and bridges across the Cordillera also continue to have access restrictions, according to the latest DPWH-Cordillera advisories.

The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) released updated road and travel advisories covering Baguio-bound routes and affected national roads and bridges in Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province.

Motorists who need to travel are advised to take note of restrictions and remain alert, as road conditions may change depending on weather and site conditions.

Baguio-Bound Road Conditions

The following major routes are currently passable:

• Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Road
• Marcos Highway
• Baguio-Bauang Road, also known as Naguilian Road
• Kennon Road, subject to vehicle and site restrictions

Kennon Road: Light Vehicles Only

Kennon Road remains passable to the general public but strictly for light vehicles only, with a maximum load limit of 5 tons.

Heavy vehicles are advised to use:

• Marcos Highway
• Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Boundary Road

Camp 2 Conditions

Motorists using Kennon Road should take note of the following:

• The Acrow Bridge at K0223+020, Sitio Camp 2, Barangay Twin Peaks, Tuba, Benguet is closed.
• The detour road at Camp 2 is one-lane passable.

DPWH-CAR also reminded motorists that Kennon Road may be temporarily closed to non-residents if continuous heavy rainfall prevails.

Halsema Highway: One Lane Passable

The Baguio-Bontoc Road, also known as Halsema Highway, is one-lane passable at Caliking in Atok, Benguet due to a road slip.

Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road: Not Passable

The Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road remains not passable at Beckel in La Trinidad, Benguet due to a road slip.

The affected section has been closed since June 28, 2026.

Alternate routes are:

• Marlboro-Beckel Road
• Labey-Lacamen Road

Other National Roads and Bridges in the Cordillera

Apayao

Several roads and bridges in Apayao remain passable but with limitations.

Limited to Light Vehicles

The following sections are limited to light vehicles:

• Bunot Bridge 2, Barangay Tanglagan, Calanasan due to a damaged abutment slope
• Ayayao Bridge, Barangay Eva, Calanasan due to a scoured bridge abutment footing
• Sugoc Bridge, Barangay Ninoy, Calanasan due to a scoured approach slab
• Pudtol Bridge, Barangay Emilia, Pudtol
• K0646+162.5 to K0646+247, Barangay Upper Maton, Pudtol

One Lane Passable Due to Road Slips

Intermittent one-lane sections are reported along:

• Barangays Parina, Tanglagan, and Eva in Calanasan
• Barangays Sta. Elena, Eva, and Naguilian in Calanasan
• Barangays Namaltugan and Butao in Calanasan
• Barangays Aurora and Lower Maton in Pudtol
• Barangays Bagutong, Anninipan, and Malayugan in Flora

Benguet

Baguio-Itogon Road: Not Passable

The Baguio-Itogon Road remains not passable at Sitio Goldfield, Barangay Poblacion, Itogon.

Alternate route: Ucab-Midas Road

Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road: Open-Close Traffic

The Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road at Bangho, Daclan, Benguet is one-lane passable under an open-close traffic scheme.

Vehicles are allowed to pass through the affected portion one at a time.

The temporary passage schedule is from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM only, except during emergency cases.

The affected section will automatically be closed during continuous heavy rainfall or whenever road conditions become unsafe.

For light vehicles, the alternate route is:

• Suyoc-Baayan-Posos Provincial Road

Motorists are advised to strictly follow instructions from traffic personnel stationed in the area.

Pico-Lamtang Road

Pico Bridge #2 is one-lane passable due to cracks on the girders.

Abatan-Mankayan-Cervantes Road

A section at Tabio, Mankayan is one-lane passable due to soil collapse.

Alternate routes:

• Light vehicles: Bayoyo-Tabio Road
• Heavy vehicles: Paco-Colalo Bypass Road

Ifugao

Banaue-Hungduan-Benguet Boundary Road

The road is one-lane passable at Hapao, Poblacion, Hungduan due to a road slip.

Alternate route: Kiangan-Tinoc-Buguias Road

Kiangan-Tinoc-Buguias Road

Sections at Binablayan, Ap-apid, Impogong, and Eheb in Tinoc are one-lane passable due to road slips.

A section at Impugong, Tinoc is also one-lane passable due to soil collapse.

Kalinga

Tabuk-Banaue via Tanudan-Barlig Road: Not Passable

The road remains not passable at Dupligan, Tanudan due to a sunken road section.

Alternate route: Cudal-Pangol-Gombuwoy Road

Mountain Province Boundary-Calanan-Abbut Road

Makilo Bailey Bridge in Bugnay, Tinglayan is limited to light vehicles only.

The bridge has a 5-ton load limit, and long-bodied vehicles are not allowed.

Manuel S. Agyao Boulevard

Aliog Bridge in Nambaran, Tabuk City is limited to vehicles weighing 5 tons or less and has a vertical clearance of 3 meters.

Heavy vehicles may use:

• Bulo National Road via Callagdao-Bulo-Agbannawag

Mountain Province

Baguio-Bontoc Road: Open-Close at Sitio Tiktik

An open-close traffic scheme is in effect along the Baguio-Bontoc Road at Sitio Tiktik, Barangay Bontoc Ili, Bontoc due to an unstable slope condition.

Mountain Province-Ilocos Sur via Tue Road

A section at Balaoa, Tadian is one-lane passable due to soil collapse.

Alternate route: Mountain Province-Ilocos Sur Road via Kayan Road

Mountain Province-Tabuk-Enrile Road

A section at Sitio Agadchang, Betwagan, Sadanga is one-lane passable due to slope collapse.

Other Baguio-Bontoc Road Sections

The following sections are also one-lane passable due to slope collapse:

• Sitio Tabbak, Sabangan
• Barangay Bontoc Ili, Bontoc

Hazards May Remain

DPWH-CAR reminded motorists that hazards may remain even along roads that are open to traffic.

Those who need to be on the road are advised to slow down, obey signs and instructions from traffic personnel, observe vehicle and lane restrictions, and remain alert when approaching affected sections.

Road conditions may change depending on rainfall and developments along affected areas.
