BroadLink Launches the World’s First Matter SuperBridge

The RM MAX brings new life to legacy IR/RF products

HANGZHOU, CHINA – 6 January 2026: BroadLink, a global leader in smart home control and automation, today announces the world’s first Matter SuperBridge – The RM MAX.

As the smart home industry accelerates toward the Matter standard, billions of legacy appliances remain excluded from next-generation ecosystems. Air conditioners, fans, heaters, lighting systems, and motorized devices that rely on infra-red (IR) and radio-frequency (RF) protocols are largely incompatible with Matter-native platforms, until now.

As the first-ever Matter SuperBridge for IR and RF devices, the RM MAX is purpose-built to address this gap in the market as it enables legacy appliances to integrate seamlessly into Matter-enabled smart home environments, without replacement, rewiring, or complex configuration. In effect, the RM MAX acts as a universal translation layer, bringing non-smart and pre-smart devices into the modern Matter ecosystem.

BroadLink’s RM MAX, a wide range of legacy appliances will now be able to connect to Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings – in fact, it delivers 98%+ IR/FR compatibility with global brands ensuring that nearly any non-smart device in a home can now be used with the latest Matter ecosystem.

The RM Max provides:

  • Instant pairing – No internet is required, devices connect instantly when powered
  • Local control – Control IR and RF appliances as well as other FastCon devices instantly
  • Local voice – Siri-enabled local voice control, even when offline
  • Building-Grade Mesh – Provides a decentralized self-organizing network that supports up to 4,096 devices per LAN line.
  • Extended Range – Single node transmission distance of up to 80m

“Consumers don’t want to replace everything they already own just to adopt a new standard,” said Moon Zhou, Global CEO of BroadLink. “RM MAX is about continuity, not disruption. It ensures Matter works not only for new devices, but for the real homes people live in today.”

The product will make its global debut at CES 2026, marking BroadLink’s first major US showcase since before the COVID-19 pandemic. The company will host live demonstrations of the RM MAX throughout CES, offering media and industry partners a first-hand look at how legacy IR and RF devices can be instantly upgraded to Matter compatibility.

BroadLink’s presence at CES 2026 signals a renewed focus on the US market, following a period of reduced international exhibition during the pandemic years. The company’s return underscores its long-term commitment to North America and its ambition to play a leading role in shaping the future of interoperable smart homes.

The RM MAX is scheduled for commercial launch in early February 2026, following its CES debut.
