The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has reported at 11:00 AM today (Thursday), October 29, 2020, through a Tropical Cyclone Advisory, that “Goni” has intensified into a Severe Tropical Storm while moving westward.
According to PAGASA, at 10:00 AM today, the center of Severe Tropical Storm “Goni” was estimated at 1,545 km East of Central Luzon, outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). “Goni” has the maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 115 km/h.
The Severe Tropical Storm has no direct effect yet over any parts of the country, however it may bring heavy rains over areas in Central and Southern Luzon starting this Friday or this weekend.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 may also be raised over some provinces in Bicol Region and Northern Samar by Friday evening. Once inside the PAR, “Goni” will be given local name “Rolly”.
This broadcast is valid only until the next advisory which is to be issued by PAGASA at 11:00 AM tomorrow, October 30, 2020.
